Gig Harbor Civic Center Now Open to the Public

The Gig Harbor Civic Center is now open to the general public for all services. All persons who enter City facilities are required to wear facial coverings if they are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Visitors who are not vaccinated will be offered a disposable facial covering upon entering the facilities and/or have the option to conduct their business in a virtual setting, through email, or over the phone. City staff will not be verifying the vaccina...

Volunteers Needed: Lodging Tax Advisory Committee

The City of Gig Harbor is looking for volunteers interested in serving on the Gig Harbor Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.

The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee was established in accordance with state law to advise and recommend to the City Council on how lodging taxes collected in Gig Harbor should be allocated in order to best increase tourism in the city.

Statewide Plastic Bag Ban to go into effect on October 1, 2021

Responding to growing plastic bag pollution, the Washington State Legislature in 2020 passed a statewide ban on single-use plastic bags that is scheduled to take effect on October 1. This new law supersedes the City's "Bring Your Own Bag" Ordinance.

The new State law was scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2021, but was delayed due to COVID-19 precautions. Once the new law goes into effect, Washington state will:

With campaign season heating up for the August Primary and November General Elections, it's important to remember that the City's Sign Code needs to be observed for all temporary signs on public and private property.
