Ancich Boat Storage Building

While Ancich Waterfront Park is open, the boat storage building is currently unoccupied until rules and prices have been established for the space. Storage racks will also need to be designed and installed prior to utilization.

City has begun developing policies and procedures for public kayak and SUP storage within the Boat Storage Building.

The park is located at 3525 Harborview Drive.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What types of watercraft will be allowed at Ancich Boat Storage Building?

At this time, the storage racks necessary for vessels are still in the design stage. It is likely that only Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP), canoes, and kayaks will be allowed, but has not been finalized. The amount of each type allowed will be dependent on the design of the racks.

Can I bring my canoe/kayak/SUP to Ancich Waterfront Park?

Yes! The park space and restrooms are open for use. There are stairs that lead to the water from the park. The only portion that is not open is the storage space within the building.

Will there be an opportunity for public input on the rules and pricing of storage?

Yes. The City anticipates releasing a survey in the near future for public input. When finalized, the survey will be linked to this page as well as our homepage.

When can I rent a space?

Rentals cannot occur until the storage racks have been designed and installed within the building. This is expected to occur by the end of 2021. Public use may not coincide with Gig Harbor Canoe and Kayak Racing Team use.

How do I sign up to rent a space within the building?

We are still working on how the City will accept requests to rent space within the building. To be alerted when the City Council considers policies and procedures and to be notified when registration opens, please sign up for our NotifyMe service at and select “Ancich Waterfront Park – Project Updates” under the News Flash category.
