Functional Utility Plans Update:

Stormwater Comprehensive Plan

Description

Continue the implementation of a comprehensive city-wide Stormwater Management Program in accordance with the city's current National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase 2 municipal stormwater permit. The Stormwater Management Program includes the ongoing assessment for identifying and prioritizing sources of stormwater pollution, development of a capital improvement program to identify and resolve storm drainage problems, a formal program for coordinating drainage basin issues, community outreach and education, and a program for inspection and enforcement of storm drainage and pollution regulations.

Wastewater Comprehensive Plan

Description

As required by the State, this update will initiate and complete the 6-Year Plan Update and update the Comprehensive Plan's demographic forecast allocation wastewater model. The results of this updated Plan will be utilized in the city-wide Comprehensive Plan update. The model results will also be utilized to update the flow data.

Water System Plan

Description

The City's Water Department is preparing a routine update which is performed every 10 years and reviews the maintenance needs and anticipated impacts due to population growth in our community. The Water System Plan is reviewed by Pierce County and the Washington State Department of Health for consistency with their respective rules and regulations.

Donkey Creek Drainage Improvements

Project Description

Install/expand drainage system at Donkey Creek Park to reduce standing water in lawn to increase usable area.

Cushman Trail Phase 5 Planning Study

Project Description

Complete a planning study, working with stakeholders, to identify the preferred route alignment and begin design on the trail extension to the city's northern limits.

Eddon Brick House Remodel

Project Description

Remodel and rehabilitate the historic Eddon Residence.

Project Schedule

Pre-design structural analysis and permit considerations are complete.

Design surveying complete.

Design contract approved by City Council: 9/25/17.

Harbor Hill Drive Extension

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open: August 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
The ceremony will be held near the roundabout at the intersection of Harbor Hill Drive and Sentinel Drive. Parking is available at the YMCA, 10550 Harbor Hill Drive. A short presentation will being at 11:00 a.m. with guest speakers sharing a few words. Following the presentation, guests will be invited to walk the roadway to the lower roundabout prior to opening to traffic. The 'Get Around Gig Harbor Trolley' will be available to provide guests a return trip to the upper roundabout. Popsicles will be available for guests to enjoy as they walk the route.

Project Description

Construct the extension of Harbor Hill Drive to Burnham Drive

Project Schedule

  • The two new roundabouts at Burnham Drive/Harbor Hill Drive and Sentinel Drive/Harbor Hill Drive are paved, striped, and open to traffic.
  • All retaining walls and ballistics wall are completed and tan pigmented sealer application is in process.
  • Sidewalks, crosswalks, street lighting and landscaping are in process.
  • Construction completion has moved up to October 2018.
